Biodose Monitored Dosage System
Medication non-compliance is a widespread issue in healthcare, particularly among the elderly and for those managing multiple prescriptions. Non-compliance can lead to a recurrence of symptoms and hospital readmissions, impacting both patient well-being and healthcare resources.
With the Biodose system, these challenges are minimized. Biodose ensures medications are taken at the correct time and in the right way, fostering consistent adherence. It’s simple: check today’s date and time, and select the designated pod from the Biodose tray.
At Vision Pharmacy, we are proud to offer this tailored service exclusively to care homes. If you’re a care home manager, contact our Care Home Division today at 01163678663 to learn more.
Medication is delivered to the care setting as arranged with the pharmacy, typically 3 working days before the start date. Upon arrival, the designated person must store all medication correctly before conducting a thorough check-in process.
Always follow the company’s policies and procedures. If checking in by floor or wing, select the appropriately labeled delivery box. Unpack trays and documentation, cross-referencing patient names, dates of birth, images, and MAR charts to confirm you have the correct individual’s medication.
For each medication, record the quantity received on the MAR chart in the appropriate box, and initial it. Repeat this process for all medications, including any items that are not packaged in trays

How Does the Biodose System Work?
Biodose uses a patented, tamper-evident sealed tray and pod system to securely store a combination of medications, including tablets and capsules.
The entire system is managed by a pharmacist, who seals each individual pod to ensure safety and accuracy. This unique design makes medication-taking simple: each pod contains the correct dose, so there’s no need for additional reminders or struggling to open packages.
For patients who may find standard packaging difficult, Biodose offers a much easier solution.
To get started, simply contact our Care Home Division team. We’ll discuss the best ways for your care home to use Biodose trays, prepare each pod with the correct medication and dosage instructions, and have them ready for you to be delivered in a convenient, flat-packed format.

Biodose - Infection Control
The Biodose system promotes infection control with single-use, pre-sealed, tamper-evident pods that minimize handling. Each pod is only touched once—when the medication is taken—reducing the risk of bacteria transfer between patients or from carers to patients.
Additionally, Biodose features BioCote technology, which reduces bacteria on its surfaces by up to 99.9%. This built-in protection helps prevent cross-infection risks and reduces threats like MRSA, C. difficile, and other bacterial hazards.
