What is Phenergan Elixir?

Phenergan Elixir is a medication used to treat adults with difficulty sleeping (insomnia), allergic conditions such as hayfever or rashes, nausea or vomiting, and as a sedative for children aged 5 years and above. It contains the active ingredient promethazine hydrochloride, an antihistamine that blocks histamine to prevent allergic reactions.

How does Phenergan Elixir work?

Phenergan Elixir starts to make you feel sleepy around 20 minutes after taking it and may work for up to 12 hours. It also works directly on the brain to help you feel more relaxed.

For feeling sick or being sick, children 2-5 years should take one 5ml spoonful the night before the journey, children 5-10 years should take two 5ml spoonfuls, and children over 10 years and adults should take five 5ml spoonfuls.
